Yvette Canoura, author of Mediterranean Sunset and winner of the 2019 Louisiana Author Project Award.
Yvette Canoura, a writer who lives in Metairie, has been chosen as the winner of the 2019 Louisiana Author Project for her romantic suspense book, Mediterranean Sunset, in the adult fiction category.
She was one of more than 200 authors who created independently published books, and she entered the competition through the Jefferson Parish Public Library website. She will advance to the next stage of the competition, the Indie Author of the Year which includes authors from all other states.
Canoura will discuss the writing process, writing advice that she uses, self-publishing an award-winning novel – including editing, cover design, and formatting, and marketing.
Canoura is an Associated Press award-winning journalist who began her career at age 16 as a newspaper writer in Puerto Rico. She studied broadcasting at Loyola University in New Orleans and hosted her talk show, Voces Hispanas, on both WSMB and WTIX radio stations.

NEW ORLEANS AUTHOR WINS CONTEST
Yvette Canoura has been chosen as this year's winner in the adult fiction category of the 2019 Louisiana Author Project for her romantic suspense book, Mediterranean Sunset. This competition recognizes the top independently-published eBooks in Louisiana and honors the winners of various states at the 2020 Public Library Association Conference held in Nashville, Tennessee in February.
